Season 15 hides one of Sanctuary's most unusual challenges behind a quest tied to Deckard Cain. The trail leads to the Echo of Tristram, where Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto appear together. You will need more than a strong build, though. The route takes time, and a well-stocked character with useful D4 items will have a much easier time keeping the farming run moving. The encounter also changes how you think about seasonal resources, since each boss contributes a different part of the route.
Start With the Three Splinters
The key materials are the Splinter of Destruction, Splinter of Hatred, and Splinter of Terror. Each one comes from a separate Hell dungeon and is linked to a Prime Evil. Baal drops Destruction in Worldstone Keep. Diablo guards Terror in The Labyrinth. Mephisto holds Hatred in the Durance of Hate. Drop rates can be inconsistent, so do not expect every clear to pay off. Higher Torment levels, especially Torment 8, Torment 10, and Torment 12, give you a better chance while also making mistakes more expensive.
Route Comparison
Location | Boss | Material | Practical focus. Worldstone Keep | Baal | Splinter of Destruction | Fast clears and strong area damage. The Labyrinth | Diablo | Splinter of Terror | Fire resistance and reliable single-target damage. Durance of Hate | Mephisto | Splinter of Hatred | Careful movement and control resistance. This order is not mandatory, but many players begin with Baal because the dungeon tends to feel quicker. After that, choose the next stop based on your character's damage type and defensive gaps.
Protect Your Active Power
There is an easy mistake here. Picking up or using another splinter can replace the Prime Evil power already active on your character. Suppose you are running Baal's Destruction effect and then interact with an extra Splinter of Hatred. The active effect may shift to Mephisto instead. Keep spare materials organised, and check your active power before leaving town. That small pause can save a full farming session, particularly when you are preparing for the combined boss fight.
Open the Tristram Encounter
Once the three materials are ready, take them to the Horadric Cube. Place the Splinter of Destruction, Splinter of Hatred, and Splinter of Terror inside it, then transmute the set. The recipe is not clearly advertised in the crafting interface, which is why some players overlook it. The materials are consumed when the gateway opens. Before you begin, repair your gear, refill useful consumables, and make sure your build can handle heavy elemental pressure, overlapping attacks, and a long boss phase without running out of resources.
Prepare for the Three-Boss Fight
The Echo of Tristram is less about rushing in and more about staying composed when the arena becomes crowded. Save defensive cooldowns for dangerous overlaps, keep moving when several effects cover the ground, and focus damage only when an opening is safe. A balanced setup is often more dependable than a glass cannon. Players who are still tuning their equipment can compare D4 items for sale with their current loadout before committing their best materials to the encounter.
